Holiday Consultancy
With nearly 20-years experience in the travel industry it’s not surprising that I’ve been called in to advise on tourism for a number of businesses and enterprises.

I specialise in niche tourism and have produced reports and delivered appraisals covering issues from new business start-ups to diversification, to training for rural eco-tourism. In addition to my years of experience, I bring: a fresh approach; an ability to see through to the core issues; an articulate analysis; and straight-forward honesty.

Case studies:
A large Scandinavian sport-hunting business wanted to diversify into international eco-tourism and approached me for a report on their current facilities and the expectations of the market-place. I visited the country for a three day period during which I interviewed the owner plus key staff. I visited accommodations, met with field staff and ground agents, plus viewed a range of wildlife-watching facilities. After carrying out an analysis of what the UK and European market might expect from their business, and contacting potential UK clients, I produced a detailed report to guide product development.

Based in the UK, a charity planned a new, linked, start-up business to operate holidays with an emphasis on overseas community projects, spirituality and pampering. They approached me for a review of their planned products. I made a detailed study of their tours, discussed products with the owner, carried out a market comparison, and made some ‘secret shopper’ calls to investigate the capabilities of staff and their product knowledge. Subsequently I submitted a detailed report with recommendations.

If you have a venture than you feel would benefit from expert analysis contact me to discuss your project. I also offer advice and training for tour guides, consultancy for wildlife-viewing installations, and lecture on the potential of eco-tourism especially in rural environments and communities.

Written work/commissions
My background in journalism has equipped me to write regularly to a number of briefs over the last 25 years – not least an acclaimed 100 page brochure each year. I can write to tight deadlines, provide coherent copy and keep to the brief. In the last few years I’ve written articles or extensive text for national press, special interest magazines, plus wildlife and tourism websites.
